BMS Eighth-Grade Promotion Frequently Asked Questions
What do I (students) wear?
Wear formal school appropriate clothing underneath your gown. Footwear should be formal as well. It is encouraged that students do NOT wear heels. ALL students MUST have their promotional gown and stole to participate in the ceremony.
When will I get my gown and stole?
Your gown and stole will be delivered to school. Students will receive their gown at school on Friday, June 19th. Students should place their gown in the dryer on low to remove wrinkles and hang on a hanger until it is worn.
Where is the promotional ceremony located?
The promotional ceremony will take place (outside) at Belleville High School Municipal Stadium, 100 Passaic Avenue.
What time is the ceremony?
Students are to arrive at Belleville High School at 8:30 AM. The ceremony will begin promptly at 9 AM.
How many people can I bring?
If promotion is OUTSIDE, you can bring as many people as you like. However, if it rains, and promotion is moved indoors, each student will receive tickets for two guests. Additional information to follow.
Where do parents/guardians park?
Parents/guardians will have to park around Belleville High School via the parking lot (limited parking) and street parking. It is highly recommended that you leave ample time for parking and to walk to the event. Parents and guests are NOT permitted to park in the high school parking lot.
Where can I get a program?
In order to support environmentally sound practices, no hard copies of the program will be available at the promotional ceremony. However, a PDF of the program will be emailed prior to the event and there will be QR codes around the facilities. In addition, the PDF will be shared on the Belleville Middle School website and one hard copy will be provided to students with their promotional certificate.
Where do I enter the stadium?
Parents and students will enter the stadium through the complex entrance through the BHS parking lot. Students will enter the field. Parents will sit on the stadium bleachers.
Where do I sit (students)?
The stage will be divided into two sections and chairs will be labeled with the student's name. Students will be told which side of the dais they will be sitting.
How will the promotional ceremony work?
You will enter the field and find your assigned seat beginning at 8:30 AM. During the ceremony, each student's name will be announced. Students will stand by row and proceed in alphabetical order toward the stage area. Upon reaching the stage, students will receive their diploma from Mr. Giachetti before returning to their seats.
What do we do after promotion?
Once the promotional ceremony is complete, students will have the opportunity to take pictures with any staff member, family members, guardians, and/or friends near the Belleville Middle School banners. Following the promotion, students are not expected to report back to Belleville Middle School. All personal materials should be removed from school by Friday, June 19, 2026.
Where can I watch it?
A live link will be emailed to all families by the morning of the ceremony.
