Beginner
 
Paragraph development. Grammar – verb to be, subject pronoun, location, present tense, greetings, short answers, possessive adjectives, prepositions of location, adjectives, there is / there are, singular and plural nouns, negative, object pronoun, have/has, present continuous, can, have to, future, regular past tense, irregular verbs and wh questions.
 
Intermediate
 
Paragraph and essay development; write informative/explanatory, argumentative and narrative essays; read and analyze fiction and nonfiction including short stories, novels – Call of the Wild , Hatchet, Holes & Bridge to Terabithia, dramas, biographies, folktales, poetry and newspaper articles; and Model Curriculum/PARCC preparation.
Grammar – countable vs. non-countable nouns, articles, subject and object pronouns, adjective placement, adjectives vs. adverbs, comparatives, superlatives, prepositions, and all verb forms.


Advanced
 
Paragraph and essay development; write informative/explanatory, argumentative and narrative essays; read and analyze fiction and nonfiction including short stories, novels –The Watsons Go to Birmingham, The Giver, & Number the Stars, dramas – The Diary of Anne Frank and A Midsummer’s Night Dream, biographies, folktales, poetry, speeches and newspaper articles; and Model Curriculum/PARCC preparation.
Grammar – countable vs. non-countable nouns, articles, subject and object pronouns, adjective placement, adjectives vs. adverbs, comparatives, superlatives, prepositions, and all verb forms.
